Driveway Grading Services

If you don’t have a paved driveway, you’re probably dealing with dirt and gravel instead.

While dirt and gravel driveway bases are economical, they can also be challenging to maintain – potholes form and washboard crops up.

To maintain your driveway surface, you need to have it graded.

Here are a few of the benefits of professional grading services:

  • Removal of tire ruts.
  • Fewer imperfections in the surface, including potholes and washboard.
  • Prevention of pest damage from digging rodents like ground squirrels.
  • Better resistance to weather damage.

At Betz Works, we’re the go-to source for professional driveway grading services in Santa Cruz, Monterey, and Santa Clara Counties.

Our 5-Step Professional Driveway Grading Process

1. Site visit

The first step in driveway grading is a site visit.

During this phase, we’ll come to your property, examine your current driveway, and look for problems like erosion, pest damage, shifting, or unevenness.

2. Free estimate

Once we’ve finished our inspection, we’ll deliver a free estimate that encompasses all the costs of driveway grading and repair.

During this phase, we’ll also consider what kind of services you need, whether it’s just grading, adding an aggregate base, or even pre-grading grubbing to remove weeds.

3. Schedule project

Once you’ve approved our cost estimate, we’ll work with you to schedule the project for a convenient time in the coming days or weeks.

4. Mobilization of dirt-moving equipment

Next, we’ll coordinate and supply the trucking of base material.

For your convenience, we handle every step of this process – you don’t need to worry about sourcing or locating material – much less moving it.

5. Driveway grading

Next, we rough grade the area and install new base rock.

If the existing base rock is still in good condition, we may just compact it and re-grade the material on top of it.

Once we’re finished, your driveway is available for immediate use.

FAQs

1. Do I need more baserock?

It depends. During our site visit, we’ll inspect your current driveway to determine its existing base rock depth and decide whether we need to add more or not.

2. How long does driveway grading take?

Because we need to bring in big tractors and trucks to complete the grading job, we usually allow 1.5 days – from start to finish.

3. How much does driveway grading cost?

It depends on how much base rock you need. Generally, grading can cost between $1-$2 a square foot. Each driveway is unique, and we can offer a more accurate estimate after our free initial site visit.
